Minnesota debates lifting its 5mg edibles cap
The DFL-led legislature is considering raising single-serving limits after retailer pushback.

Minnesota lawmakers introduced a bill this week that would raise the single-serving cap on cannabis edibles from 5mg to 10mg THC. The current cap was set in 2023 as part of the state's adult-use rollout and has been a frequent target of retailer complaints, who argue it pushes regular consumers to neighboring Wisconsin.
Patient advocacy groups are split. Some support the change as a matter of consumer autonomy; others worry that higher single-serving caps will worsen the state's already strained ER acute-intoxication numbers.
A vote is expected before the legislative session ends in late June.
