Learn cannabis
18 primers
Short, plainly-written primers on cannabis chemistry and experience. For adult educational use — not medical advice.
Education
6 entriesHow to read a lineage tree
Cannabis lineage is messy — most 'parents' are claims made by breeders without lab confirmation. Treat them as hypotheses.
How we predict how a strain will feel
Terpene profile, cannabinoid ratio, dose, format, and tolerance — in that order. Strain name is the weakest signal.
What phenotypes are and why they matter
A 'chem-leaning' cut feels different than a 'kush-leaning' cut even when both share a name. Pheno hunts pick the variant a breeder thinks is best.
Why grow data should come from growers
Flowering times and yields vary wildly by environment. We collect them from verified growers, with photos.
Why indica/sativa labels often mislead
Indica and sativa describe a plant's shape, not how it feels. Terpene profile is the better predictor.
Why THC % often overstates felt potency
Two flowers labeled 22% THC can feel completely different. Terpenes, freshness, and cure matter more than the headline number.
Terpene primers
6 entriesCaryophyllene
Pepper and clove. The only terpene that also binds to CB2 receptors — meaning it's pharmacologically active in its own right.
Humulene
Earthy, hoppy, woody. Found in hops — partly why beer and cannabis can taste oddly similar.
Limonene
Bright citrus — the same compound that makes lemon peels smell like lemon peels. Associated with elevated mood.
Linalool
Lavender. Floral, calming. The same compound chamomile and lavender essential oils get their relaxing reputation from.
Myrcene
The most common terpene in cannabis. Earthy and musky, with mango notes — typically associated with the body-heavy 'couch lock' feel.
Pinene
Pine — sharp, fresh, alpine. Associated with alertness and memory.

6 entriesChemistry not yet characterized
Terpene profile is what actually predicts how a strain feels — lab data is coming as we partner with labs.
Effect profile not yet documented
Nobody has filed a structured, verified review of this strain through us. We won't make one up.
Grow data not yet contributed
Yields, flowering time, and difficulty come from growers we've verified — not internet rumors.
Lineage not yet verified
We won't guess parentage. Help us source it — every claim needs a verifiable record.
No lab data yet
We're working with SC Labs and Confidence Analytics to surface real COAs.
Zero verified reviews
Be the first. We count receipts, not vibes — every review is verified before it counts toward the rating.
